As Director, Mr. Bobby Bonner provides a wealth of knowledge and skill to Cimarron Basin Community Corrections from his past twenty-three years in the corrections profession.
Bonner received his Bachelors in Science degree for Criminal Justice from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Mr. Bonner’s career in corrections started with Shawnee County Department of Corrections in Topeka, KS as an entry-level officer working with juveniles in March 1995. In the nine years he spent at Shawnee County DOC, he was later promoted to corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant before moving to the private side of corrections.
In March 2004, Mr. Bonner joined CoreCivic, a nationwide system of correctional facilities, as a case manager progressing up the ranks to Warden. Throughout his career, Mr. Bonner has dealt with inmates of all ages both male and female and at a wide variety of custody levels from several states including Kansas, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington state, Arizona, Oklahoma and the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In April 2018, Mr. Bonner accepted the position as Director of Cimarron Basin Community Corrections. Mr. Bonner sees his current position as an opportunity to use his experience and talents to make a difference outside the walls of a correctional facility.
Mr. Bonner’s goal is to make Cimarron Basin Community Corrections (CBCC) a shining example of community corrections in the state of Kansas by expanding upon the experience of the CBCC staff and re-enforcing working partnerships between his agency and others in the communities CBCC serves.
CBCC strives to provide the best atmosphere and environment for offenders to acquire the skills and coping mechanisms to better themselves and lowering the number of repeat offenders.
