1. What is GIS?

GIS stands for Geographic Information System. This is a computer system capable of storing, managing, and analyzing data that is directly linked to a position on the Earth's surface. In our County, GIS is used as the County's mapping system.

3. What must I do in order to obtain a County address for my property?

If you believe your property was mistakenly missed in the County's re-addressing project, come into the GIS office at 515 N. Washington, Liberal, KS 67901 and an address will be assigned.

If you are building a new structure, you must have a copy of your building permit when you come in to get an address.

4. I was recently assigned a new address in the county and am going to renew my driver's license. Do I need to take anything with me to the DMV?

Yes. You will need to come in to the GIS office and obtain a signed letter stating your name, old address, and new address. This will work as official documentation if you do not have a piece of mail with your new address on it.
